My name is Sara Dandy and I am a recent graduate of the University of Washington. I returned to college in 2020 (unfortunate timing on my part) to finally complete the degree I began in my younger years. After one year remote and one year masked on campus, I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication paired with a minor in Environmental Studies.
Though I have always considered myself an environmentalist and outdoor enthusiast, the courses in my minor helped deepen my passion and guide my career goals toward utilizing my communication and writing skills in the sustainability field.
Throughout the course of my work history, I've had the opportunity to apply my communication, marketing, and writing skills in different industries and platforms.
As a recruiter, I crafted position descriptions to attract quality candidates through ads and posts on job boards and social media. I also prepared presentations of candidates to pitch their skills and qualifications to my clients.
As a cookie-lady (my home-based decorated cookie business), I managed marketing with a Facebook business page, website, and associated blog to promote my business locally. I also networked with party-planning professionals and attended local vendors shows.
In the automotive industry, I regularly wrote and edited departmental policies, procedures, and forms to ensure consistency and cohesion.
I am able to easily pivot my writing and communication style and skills across different platforms and purposes.
I have recently begun consulting for a local sustainability app start up, managing their LinkedIn page and preparing new copy for their app, website and app store descriptions, along with other freelance communication and research projects.
I continue to add to my knowledge base and stay on top of trends with climate change and sustainability focused podcasts, news sites, newsletters, and books as well as LinkedIn Learning courses.
I am available for content writing, copywriting and editing, social media posts, and research projects. My time in school also introduced me to the fun and creativity of Canva, adding some graphic design services to my skillset.
